Emily Ley is more than just the queen of scheduling and organization. The founder of Simplified planners, Ley is a mom to three kids and a best-selling author who challengers herself and her faith. And now she’s looking out for your daughters with her book, Grace Not Perfection for Young Readers.
This book addresses the pressures young girls face at school, on ball fields, with their friends and on social media. Written for girls 8-12 years old, it extends beyond that range with it’s relatable tone and encouraging words. If you know a young lady near that age, chances are you know she is VERY busy with school and activities. Ley takes an honest look at her own search for perfection and applies helpful advice to middle school years.
Throughout the book, she tells the young girls of today, what she wished she had learned earlier in life: each of these girls is enough. Their value is not based on extra- curricular activities, accomplishments or acceptance by the “in” crowd.
Ley continues to explore this mission to help girls understand their self-worth. In July, Ley hosted an Instagram chat with 16 year-old author/actress/singer Alena Pitts. Next, she spoke with author Sally Clarkson about parenting and the pressures young girls face today. And this week, she had a heart-warming chat with author Sally Lloyd-Jones. You can watch both videos below.
If you have a tween or teen girl that has ever felt overwhelmed, this book is delivers a message they need to hear. And for the mom’s out there that hold themselves to those same standards of perfection, we recommend the original Grace Not Perfection.
