God’s Word is Our Life Manual Just as we need instructions for new appliances, we also need directions for life. Explaining that God’s Word is a life manual is one of my favorite ways to teach children just how important God’s Word is to us. If we need to know how to do something in life, the Bible is our guide. To help you teach your child the importance of God’s Word, here are a few everyday things you could use as examples of how wonderful it is to have an order to follow. Driving a car Learning how to play a new game Making a sandwich Following a recipe (bonus if it’s a goodie they get to eat!) Putting a puzzle together (using the box as a guide) Making a craft (following after a pattern) Reading a book (Does the story make sense if we read it out of order?)
God’s Word is Our Love Letter Besides being our life instruction’s manual, God’s Word is his love letter to us. He loves us so much that he wanted us to be able to read about his love. He loves us so much that he carefully took the time to craft a letter that declares his love from cover to cover. He loves us so much that he protected his book through the centuries so that we could read it today. The next time your child receives a piece of personal mail, such as a birthday card, remind them of why Grandma or Uncle Bill sent the birthday card. “She loves you so much!” Then when it’s time to read God’s Word, remind your child of their birthday card or personal letter. “God loves you so much that he gave us the Bible as a love letter, just like Grandma loves you and sent you the birthday card!” You could then read specific verses that talk about God’s great love.
Want to help your children know just how important God’s Word is? Try out one of the above ideas! We would love to hear from you today! What ideas are you using to teach your children the importance of God’s Word?
