“Word became flesh.” The greatness and bigness of God the Son squeezed into time and space and a body. Something that just doesn’t seem like it could fit. Like a massive stack of lawn chairs packed into every square inch of a minivan. The glory and power of God is big, incomprehensible really, yet small enough and humble enough, to come to us.
I loved this reminder. I needed this reminder. God was not so big to forget us. As a mom, I know that my kids need this reminder too. The coming of God to us in Jesus is a beautiful reminder that we must never forget. God was and is and always will be with us. While God is holy, great, and far beyond our imagination, he made himself small. He came near us to love us, save us, and allow us to know him more deeply. Help your kids to know that no need or concern is too small to take to God. Remind them that no matter how old they are, God cares for them as a good and loving Father. From start: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”). (Matthew 1:23) to finish: “and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20), help them to see that Jesus is God with them. He has not, and will not, leave them.
He is big, but not too big, to forget us.
