I pray they are wrecked for the ordinary and that You use them to do far more than we, their parents, ever did or do. May they dream big and follow You wherever You may lead. You’ve taught us, as a family, to love deeply and to walk through challenges with Your grace and strength. There’s been happy times and difficult times. We’ve had to say goodbye more than we care to count. Sometimes I want to shield them because they are just kids, but then I remember that you don’t give us more than we can handle. You are right there with us. Faithful. That doesn’t just apply to me but to my kids as well. May their relationship with You always outweigh anything they can do for you. May you always be The Source of where their strength, love, and life comes from. Continue to mold them and make them be more like You.
I pray that they will be known for their good Jesus – like character which will, in turn, make them leaders driven by humility and grace. Jesus, please also continue to teach me to parent well. In the midst of the calling at hand, I’ve worried that I haven’t always balanced ministry and family well. Please fill in the gaps where I fall short, and keep my heart in tune to priorities. You first. Family second. Ministry third. It’s way too easy to reverse that order, and the only place that ends in is disaster. I want to end this prayer with thankfulness. Thank You for this life you’ve called us to. Thank You that my kids have gotten to be a part of miracles. Thank You that they’ve learned to hear Your voice and see Your hand at work in our lives. Thank You for using this family to love orphaned and vulnerable children. You are too good in our lives, and for that, I can’t say thank you enough. With all the love in my heart, Jen, the world-changer who wants nothing more than to know You more and follow wherever You may lead.
